Join us in welcoming back this natural pacamara coffee from Finca La Hermosa in Guatemala, produced by our good friend, Max Perez. Those of you lucky enough to enjoy some of this naturally processed coffee last year will remember how special this coffee is -- it's truly an experience. The floral and fruit notes are so complex and you can't avoid recognizing the excellence of the processing and production of this award winning coffee. While Max didn't enter this lot into the Cup of Excellence competition this year, Max is still entering coffees from his farm and taking top honors.
We're so thankful for our partnership with Collaborative Origin Imports, formerly Yepocapa Coffee, and for their introducing us to Max Perez. While we do have more of it than we had last year, this coffee is still in short supply -- so act now and enjoy this excellent harvest before it's gone!
On Finca La Hermosa from the Importer, Yepocapa Coffee:
"Max Perez is a 5th generation coffee farmer. He and his family are originally from Huehuetenango and have a family farm there that is run by his father. 10 years ago, Max and wife had an opportunity to buy an abandoned farm that has since become Finca La Hermosa.
Since the farm had been abandoned for a significant amount of time, everything needed to be renovated. Plants were pulled up, fields were tilled, raked, and maintained, shade trees were planted, and the construction of a wet mill ensued. This amount of investment is actually quite risky. Since the coffee market is super volatile and doesn’t always offer profit margins, farmers who make investments like that are often driven by something more than profit margins... It’s what I really admire about Max... It’s a farm we’re really proud to represent and a farmer we’re even more excited about. His coffees are stellar but his personality and character is what drives us to want to continue supporting him year after year."
