We are excited to introduce you to a new coffee producer, Luis “Wicho” Valdés III. Luis heads up the operation of Finca Santa Isabel and Finca San Lorenzo, nestled in the hills of San Cristobal, Guatemala which sits within Cobán region. This is a coffee growing region characterized by its humid weather and constant rainfall all throughout the year. This particular lot comes from Finca San Lorenzo, a farm which is enveloped in clouds and sits between 1400-1500 meters above sea level. There is a rich earthiness within the cup that we taste, coming through like a bold but smooth black tea, and some really great dried fruit and cantaloupe-like sweetness to balance out the overall profile.
We think this coffee is very expressive of the beauty of Guatemalan coffees. We thought it was a fantastic offerings to hold us over while we await the return of the Perez family's coffees, which you all have come to know and love so well.
