If you've been buying from Non-Fiction for some time, you'll know we love sparkling and bright coffees from Ethiopia. We've been honored to partner with Catalyst Trade these last several years, because we know they have strong relationships within the communities they work.
Being majority Ethiopian owned, Catalyst Trade is able to operate with truly the origin country at heart. Oftentimes in coffee, a majority of the money that is exchanged takes place outside of the coffees origin country, but Catalyst instead ensures that a majority of the funds find their way to the people who're truly responsible for these excellent coffees.
Many of the producers responsible for this coffee are smallholder farmers, also known as "garden farmers" as they grow coffee, among other cash crops, in their gardens. Most farms are roughly .5 to 2 hectares, which is roughly 1.25 to 5 acres. These aren't commercially grown coffees, they're grown with care and diligence by families all over the Uraga district in the gardens beside their homes.
This is a new coffee for us, here, at Non-Fiction, coming to us from the Uraga district within the Guji zone. Guji coffees are known by their bright and aromatic flavor profiles, and this coffee is no exception to that rule. We've been tasting a sparkling champagne-like quality to this coffee, which is balanced out with ripe peach sweetness -- we even note some elderflower aromatics on the finish.
Please Note: All coffee bean orders are roasted fresh and may take 24-48 hours before shipping.
